|ANALYSIS OF MINERAL OIL BY SOLID-LIQUID ELUTION CHROMATOGRAPHY - STEJARU, D.|
A GOOD SEPARATION OF MONO-, DI-, TRI-, AND TETRACYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS WAS ACHIEVED BY THE METHOD OF ADSORPTION CHROMATOGRAPHY ON NEUTRAL ALUMINA. THE ADVANTAGE OF THE METHOD IS CONSIDERED TO BE THAT SATURATED HYDROCARBONS AND RESINS ARE SEPARATED IN A SINGLE OPERATION. THE UV-MONITORING OF THE ELUTED FRACTIONS SHOWED THAT THERE WAS PRACTICALLY NO MUTUAL CONTAMINATION OF THE HYDROCARBON FRACTIONS.

|On nonlinear Tollmien-Schlichting/vortex interaction in three-dimensional boundary layers - Davis, Dominic A. R.|
The instability of an incompressible three-dimensional boundary layer (that is, one with cross-flow) is considered theoretically and computationally in the context of vortex/wave interactions. Specifically the work centers on two low amplitude, lower-branch Tollmien-Schlichting waves which mutually interact to induce a weak longitudinal vortex flow; the vortex motion, in turn, gives rise to significant wave-modulation via wall-shear forcing...

The time histories of particles in the energy range 1 MeV to 1 GeV at times of all greater than 3 percent cosmic ray decreases in the years 1978 to 1982 are studied. Essentially all 59 of the decreases commenced at or before the passages of interplanetary shocks, the majority of which accelerated energetic particles. We use the intensity-time profiles of the energetic particles to separate the cosmic ray decreases into four classes which we subsequently associate with four types of solar wind st...
